Today, Sunday, the international campaign known as “16 days against violence” has been launched in Syria, and particularly in the center of “Noqatat Bedaya” in the southern countryside of Idlib, under the name of “Isam’ooni”, which was inspired by the international campaign “Hear me too”, and has the same meaning of it.
The director of the center, Ms. Fatima Zaidan, told Horrya press that: “The campaign lasts for 16 days, starting from November the 25th, and ends on December the 10th, in an attempt of connecting the International Day against Violence against Women, and the International Human Rights Day”.
Ms. Zaidan added: “The campaign aims at eliminating the various manifestations of violence against women, and at raising awareness on Social Violence among the community and humanitarian activists, and emphasizing the role that each one of them can play to make women’s and girls’ lives much safer”.
In the interview, Ms. Zaidan clarifies that “The mentioned period of time coincides with many international days, including the International Human Rights Defenders Day on the 29th of November, World AIDS Day on the first of December, International Volunteer Day on the 5th of December, which is followed by the commemoration of the Montreal Massacre on the 6th, and the campaign will be concluded on the 10th of December, which is the International Day for Human Rights”.
For her part, the psychological support specialist at the center, Ms. Sawsan Al-Tawil, spoke about the variety of the activities carried out by the center, such as lifting the campaign’s slogans, and having some women sharing their stories with violence, in addition to introducing the audience to the actions needed when exposed to violence”.
Ms. Altawil pointed out that women tried to send peace messaged to the world by choosing the orange color as the color of the campaign, as it symbolizes a world free of violence; which caused an international response with this occasion, and many humanitarian organizations have called for participating in this campaign, and stressed on the importance of introducing it, the reasons behind launching it, and its desired goals to the whole world.
