Several camps, located in the east and north of Aleppo, have been drowned by the heavy rains in the last two days, and people there are suffering from difficult humanitarian conditions, in the absence of humanitarian organizations.

Abu Abdulla, director of Duyuf al-Sharqiya camp, near the city of Al-Bab, east of Aleppo, told Horrya Press that “most of the problems we face in the camp lie in the streets separating tents, due to the rough terrain, even though the earth has been leveled, but the situation becomes extremely bad in the winter”.

The camp is located in the north of the area, which is a low enough to harvest rainwater. We need to gravel the area to fix this, and we have already asked several organizations to help us draw water with a pump, with no avail, added Abu Abdulla.

The camp director confirmed that “the only body that is helping is the White Helmets “, stating that there have been many damages inside the camp, as water leaked to the tents and drowned some of them.” Moreover, some tents have been lifted 20 cm, which has not met the need, noting that the collective tents were not lifted.

” We are in dire need of all essentials of life, in addition to mattresses, blankets, and basic heating materials, as the flood destroyed everything. We also need the organizations to consider the issue of the campground,” concluded the camp director.

Muhammed Abu Samer, displaced from Eastern Ghouta, and one of the camp residents, said that “we suffer a lot when it rains, as water leaks into the tents, and we all try to help the administration find a solution to this tragedy. Besides, we suffer from severe cold due to the coldness of water that covers the land”.

On the other hand, Om Said, a displaced from the city of Duma in Eastern Ghouta, drew the attention to the need for quick assistance to avoid the diseases might be caused by the severe cold during heavy rains, adding that they have never been able to leave the tents despite the leakage of water into the tents.

She called upon international organizations to enter the liberated north of Syria, and help them throughout their stay in the camp, stressing the fact that Assad Regime was behind her displacement as it bombed the city almost completely, hoping that everyone will return to their homes when the regime falls.

It is worth mentioning that Duyuf al-Sharqiya camp is one of many camps suffering from the lack of paved road networks, what causes winter floods, due to the absence of humanitarian organizations.
