The Syrian revolutionaries’ Gathering held “Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham” responsible of the assassination of the activists Raed Al-Fares and Hmoud Jneid in the city of Kefranbel in Idlib’s province on Friday.
In a statement issued by its political office, the gathering said: “Today, Friday, 23 Nov 2018, we got afflicted by the death of the activists in the Syrian Revolution, Raed Al-Fares and Hmoud Jneid, in the middle of Kefranbel in Idlib, by obscurantist forces that chose treachery in the confrontation of the message of right and freedom”.
The Statement pointed out that Al-Fares and Jneid were assassinated in an area controlled by “Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham” (Jabhat Al-Nusra formerly), and added that Al-Fares faced many harassment and threats by the same party, as “Jabhat Al-Nusra” has previously arrested him and the journalist, Hadi Al-Abdalla in January 2016, in addition to closing the headquarters of “Fresh Radio” and the Revolutionist offices Federation that are both founded by Al-Fares, in coordination with activists from his town, other than that, Al-Fares survived a targeted assassination attempt in 2014 for his rebel activity and for countering extremism.
The statement held “Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham” responsible of the assassination of Al-Fares, noting that the assassination took place in an area that is under their control, and stressed that “no one with clear conscience can deny the practices and treachery of “Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham” against the Syrian revolutionists and the opponents of their opinions”.
The Syrian Revolutionists’ Gathering expresses their deep condolences with the families of the two martyrs and all the free Syrians, and holds “Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham” responsible for the assassination of Al-Fares and Hmoud in an area under their control, as no one with clear conscience can deny the practices and treachery of “Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham” against the Syrian revolutionists and the opponents of their opinions.
Earlier this day, unidentified assailants attacked the martyrs, Al-Fares and Jneid, and ran away after killing the two recognized activists, Horrya Press’s Correspondent said that “The Two activists, Al-Fares and Jneid were shot to death at 11:30 pm of this Friday in the city of Kefranbel in Idlib’s province, while they were heading one of the villages in Rid Idlib to cover the marches against Assad’s Regime.
