A new phase in the ongoing series of intimidating the Syrian refugees in Lebanon has started; aiming at forcing the refugees into going back to Al-Assad-controlled areas, as forces of the Lebanese army carried out a raid on Wednesday, under the pretext of looking for wanted persons, and arrested Syrian refugees in Arsal, to the northeast of Lebanon, which includes more than 20 camps.
National sources reported that since the early morning hours, the Lebanese army has carried out a raid on in the Syrian refugees’ camps in Arsal, under the pretext of looking for wanted persons who violate Lebanon’s rules on entry and residence. During the raid on, the Lebanese forces arrested 300 people, 20 among them were women.
The sources added that the arrests raids affected the refugees in the camps of “Alassi, Almala’ab, Tallet Aljafer, Alsanabel, Almahabbah, Ansar Albonian Alsades, Alnakhil, Alabrar, Albara’ 1, Albara’ 2, Abu Iyad Rahmeh, Abna’ Alrif, Abu Sharif, Alkhoja, Iwa’ Alward, Alkhalil, Alrahman, Qaryet Hayat”.
Last month, the Lebanese forces arrested more than 100 Syrian refugees from Arsal camp, and justified the arrests with different pretexts, including claiming that the documents of the arrested were outdated and that the forces were looking for terrorists in the area, in addition to claiming that the arrested had no official identity documents.
The Syrian refugees in Lebanon suffer from a series of intimidation and hatred campaigns, while Lebanese officials are calling for returning the Syrian Refugees to their county to return the stability to the areas that were lately controlled by Al-Assad.
